Reconversion of Boulevard Emile Bockstael, Brussels

The renovation of the Boulevard Bockstael, a structuring axis in the north of the city of Brussels, involves a major transformation. Thus, a large walkway is proposed as the main thread of the project, replacing the overly functional profile of the existing track.

This walk allows to create coherence on the whole of the linear sound of the boulevard is 1.2 km. It is based on an existing plant heritage whose conservation of all the trees guided the design of the project.  An asymmetrical profile allows the creation of a continuous cycle path and allows a better distribution of modes on the pavement. Along this promenade, the spaces circulated, parked, and places of use are succeeded and are dimensioned in view of the context (shops, metro station, square, equipment...)

The development project is based on 4 main principles: the increased landscape, peaceful mobilities, make room for uses and create concerted places.
